AN appeal has been made by Children's Hospice South West for anyone who can spare a few hours a week to volunteer in the busy Tavistock shop.
Manager at the CHSW charity shop in West Street, Sarah Taylor, said: 'To become a shop volunteer all we ask is you can spare a regular amount of time each week. There are many elements of volunteering we need help with — tills, stock processing, data inputting, etc. It would be wonderful to welcome some younger members to our team. Some CHSW volunteers are helping as part of their Duke of Edinburgh Award and the government V Award initiative.'
CHSW now has eight shops throughout the South West and relies on the support of the local community to help within the shop and to help supply the stock.
The Tavistock shop is looking for donations of good quality clothing, books, toys, games, CDs, DVDs and any unwanted items. To donate items, simply drop them into the shop.
The money raised from CHSW's shops helps the charity to continue providing specialist hospice care for families with children who are not expected to reach adulthood. Through its hospices CHSW offers respite, palliative, emergency, and end of life care to life-limited children and care and support to their families.
Anyone able to support the charity by doing a few hours each week at the Tavistock shop should call Sarah Taylor on 01822 614888.
