COULD the council officer, responsible for the decision to remove the extra bus lane in the shiny new bus station in Tavistock, explain why it was done?
This extra lane was used by community transport, and by the Anchorage Centre on a daily basis, to drop off and pick up elderly people, often with mobility problems.
It looks as though the extra lane is there, but was paved over at the last minute for some reason. What we have now, is a wasted space and a no man's land.
The volunteer minibus drivers now have to gingerly reverse into the pay and display car park, with little room for manoeuvre, only to be beeped at by taxi drivers or car park customers, because they are blocked in, and can`t get out. And no, most of them are not prepared to wait five minutes while the minibuses load/unload.
So how about it council, as the extra lane appears to be there under the paving, can we have it back?
