THE West Devon Domestic Violence Forum and Community Safety Partnership have been raising awareness this week ? National Domestic Violence week. Awareness raising packs have been sent to all agencies, large employers, schools, pre-schools, hospitals and GP surgeries in West Devon. WPC Dawn McCormick, domestic violence officer for West Devon, said although West Devon was one of the safest areas in the country to live, figures for domestic violence were on a par with the rest of the country for the number of incidents per capita. ?Domestic violence is a crime and the police now have a policy of positive arrest. It is not a private issue that can be kept behind closed dooes,? she said. Anyone needing help or advice can contact West Devon Women?s Aid on 01837 55228 or can contact WPC Dawn McCormick on 07734 331058.
