A BUDDING teenage photographer has been congratulated on his stunning work by a Tavistock hotel which now intends to use his images to promote itself to visitors.

As part of a BTEC Level 3 photography course, Cameron Parker-Stimpson, a 16-year-old student at Chelfham School in Bere Alston, was asked to find a place best suited to location photography.

Cameron asked The Bedford Hotel if he could visit the premises and capture its cuisine on camera.

Andy Young, photography teacher at Chelfham, said: ‘To his amazement, the prestigious establishment said yes, so for a fortnight he was taking images of their food and then he gave them his processed images.

‘All images were taken using complex photographic equipment and then processed using Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.’

The Bedford Hotel then wrote to Cameron, thanking him, and said the stunning images were so good it would upload them on the hotel’s Facebook page.

Mike Coombes, sales and marketing manager at The Bedford Hotel, said they had been ‘absolutely delighted’ to work with Cameron, whose pictures were ‘excellent’ and showed a great deal of skill’.

He said: ‘Cameron has a great career ahead of him. His talent in this field is obvious. It takes a lot of patience to get these sorts of images absolutely right and Cameron’s work showcases our high-quality, locally sourced food perfectly.

‘Good food photography is notoriously difficult and Cameron has done a truly excellent job, with effective use of depth-of-field in particular.’

In his letter to the school, Mr Coombes said: ‘Thank you for allowing us to make use of these photos. We will upload a few of them to our Facebook page, with credit to Chelfham Bere Alston School and I would also expect to use them on our website.’

Chelfham Bere Alston, run by Priory Education Services and part of the Priory Group, is an independent special school for those with complex needs which has been praised as ‘Good’ by Ofsted.
