Throgmorton Cup Callington Town 0 Launceston 3 LAUNCESTON comfortably progressed to the third round of the cup as they outgunned a battling Callington side at Ginsters Marshfield Parc. The visitors missed a gilt edged chance on 14 minutes when Richard Hope was free just four yards out but could not beat Jay Richmond in the Town goal, who made a stunning save. A minute later, however, and they were ahead when Jamie Ahearn converted almost constant pressure to score. Callington were unlucky not to be level when Lee Crook saw his curling shot cannon off the cross bar a minute later, and this was compounded on 20 minutes when Richard Hope was first to react to a dropped ball by Richmond. Town?s new signing Kenny Spear came on at half time and caused some problems for the Launceston back four with his pace; at the other end, it always looked like Launceston were the more dangerous and on the hour Rob Blake added a third to effectively kill off the game. Callington will be looking to bounce back when league action returns with the visit of Penryn to the Parc on Saturday. Man of the match: Jamie Ahearn (Launceston).
