TAVISTOCK and District Embroiderers' Guild is looking for young members — boys and girls — between 5 and 18 years of age.
The lively branch is keen to develop and protect our heritage of embroidery encouraging the younger generation.
Modern art may not be the first thing that springs to mind when thinking about embroidery, but a selection of stitching magazines will reveal new and exciting designs, both modern and traditional. In schools today, textiles form an important part of the curriculum as the fashion industry is alive and economically important.
Young people interested in joining the Guild can come along with their parents to an introductory session on Saturday April 28 from 2 pm to 5 pm in the Tavistock Guide Hall — at the entrance to the Main Car Park. You can come along for information, see some of the work of the local Guild Branch and, hopefully, enrol as a Young Embroiderer.
Contact Kath Braven 01822 852278 for more details.
