CALSTOCK Parish Council has been asked to take over the Albaston Millennium Village Green because of fears it may close through a lack of trustees on the management committee.
An extraordinary meeting is being held tomorrow (Friday) at 6.30pm in the Queen's Head at Albaston to try and boost the number of trustees.
The parish council has also been approached as it maintains the majority of green spaces in the parish, including the new woodland park at Harrowbarrow and Metherell Village Hall.
The green was one of only three built in Cornwall to celebrate the millennium and it has become well established and well used by the community for many village events such as fetes, primary school activities and music festivals.
In a letter to the parish council, trustee Ginny Jackets said the management committee had been struggling for the last three years to recruit new trustees.
There were currently only four and some of these had indicated they wished to step down due to age and personal circumstances.
She said the committee had £4,000 which could be transferred to the council should it agree to take over the green.
Parish councillors agreed to send a representative to the meeting to see the level of interest from local people about becoming trustees before bringing the issue back to a future meeting.
