WEST Devon planners are to ask for an enforcement order to be served on a Tavistock DIY chainstore, which is allegedly using part of its car park for large storage containers.

Other companies on the Plymouth Road industrial estate reported to the council that Focus Do It All had installed two demountable containers on its car park, claiming a breach of planning conditions.

A report to the planning committee states that Do It All is a significant employer in Tavistock and commercially important to West Devon.

?However, the siting of two containers in that location takes up valuable car parking spaces ? they are also incongruous and cause a loss of amenity,? the report states.

West Devon planning officers spoke to the manager of Do It All in July and requested that the containers be removed, or that an application for change of use of the land be submitted.

So far, no response has been received by the borough council and when the committee meets in Okehampton next Tuesday members will be asked to authorise an enforcement notice, requiring the store to remove the containers within three months.

A spokesman for Focus Wickes plc said: ?We are currently involved in dialogue with the planning authority over this matter.?
