LOCAL produce, home made-cakes and handicrafts will be on offer at the Buckland Monachorum Village Market and Coffee Shop this weekend.

The monthly market is at the village hall from 10am to noon this ?Saturday.

That evening, the hall will play host to the popular quiz night, from 7.30pm for an 8pm start. Teams of up to six can take part at £2 per head. Participants are welcome to bring their own refreshments.

Also to take place at the village hall is the comedy 'A Public Mischief' by Kenneth Home and performed by Buckland Drama Group.

The group's spring production takes place on March 29, 30 and 31.

'A Public Mischief' tells the story of Bridget, who is persuaded to run away from her husband Nicholas, by her boyfriend Mark. Mark has expectations from a rich, aunt and cannot afford a scandal, so he arranges for the disappearance to look like a bathing accident.

Nicholas manages to trace Bridget to a guest-house in Bath — where the aunt lives — and much of the comedy stems from the situation created when he takes a room under a false name and settles down to recover his wife.
