THREE staff and six cadets from 2312 (Tavistock) Squadron Air Cadets completed their Easter Camp at RAF Wittering recently.

The Tavistock party joined 34 young people from all over Plymouth and Cornwall to take part in activities that included map-reading, shooting on the station's laser range and sport.

The cadets tackled a challenging low ropes course, requiring initiative and physical strength to complete it. The cadets also spent a day at Duxford Air Museum.

On station the party visited the fire section and the MT section where they were able to examine a host of different vehicles. They had the privilege of going to RAF Mildenhall, the home of the USAF KC 135 tankers.

The party were briefed on the role of the KC 135 and were able to examine an aircraft and talk to pilots and crew. The USAF dog section laid on a display to complete the tour.

Recreation time was spent bowling and shopping in Peterborough.

A night exercise in camouflage and concealment with the RAF Regiment completed the week.

Squadron CO Sqn Ldr John Olver, who was officer in charge of the camp, said: 'It really was an excellent week that challenged everyone taking part. We are now looking forward to summer camps at High Wycombe and Brize Norton.'

The squadron welcomes new recruits who must be at least 13 years of age and is also seeking adult staff.
