WEST Devon Citizens Advice Bureau has recently re-stocked its waiting rooms at both its Okehampton and Tavistock bureaux with leaflets and information that can help people during times of redundancy concern.

With the recent news that yet more job losses are to come in the area, the charity is getting prepared to help as many people as possible.

Barbara Osborne, bureau manager, said: 'Being made redundant is a shock both emotionally and financially. If you think your job may be under threat please call us or drop in and see us.

'It is useful to check your options and rights now so you are better placed once any changes have been announced.

'As well as having highly skilled advisors on hand to help, we also have a range of leaflets and a redundancy handbook that will guide you through the steps you can take.'

Caroline Wilkinson, advice session supervisor, said: 'Our advisors are trained to provide support and information to help you regain control of your finances and help you move forward.

'We can carry out a "what if, benefit check" to show employees the range of benefits they may be able to claim should the worst happen.

'We are also able to help employers, who may need to make staff redundant, to follow the correct procedures and ensure that a very difficult situation is carried out in the best way possible.'

West Devon CAB has offices in Kingdon House, North Street Tavistock, open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays 10am to 2pm, and the Ockment Centre, North Street, Okehampton, open Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, 10am to 2pm.
