WEST Devon Citizens Advice Bureau is seeking volunteers to take part in fast track training for its new telephone service.

Adviceline is a new CAB initiative which is being piloted at bureaux in West Devon, South Hams and Teignbridge.

The three independent charities will share a single telephone number and increase their capacity to answer calls from local people by having more volunteers available to answer the telephone at any one time.

Mandy Kenyon, Adviceline project manager, said: 'The new way to contact the CAB in Okehampton and Tavistock will be by calling 08444 111444. When your call is answered you will receive a short diagnostic interview. If you need an appointment either by telephone or face to face, this will be at your local bureau.

'In West Devon we are now recruiting new volunteers to help us with this exciting telephone project. The training will be carried out over a month and will involve tutored sessions, observation and a fair bit of homework. We are very thorough at the CAB so the training will feel quite intensive but it is very rewarding.'

The Adviceline training is due to begin in June and volunteer expenses will be paid.
