A WEEK'S worth of events being held to celebrate St George's Day will end in fitting fashion for the first annual St George's Day Challenge. This week has seen two of Okehampton's drinking establishment push themselves to the limit as the King's Arms and the Plymouth Inn have been battling it out to discover who really is the best. Teams from both the pubs have been competing in a series of events throughout the week, including pool, darts and Nintendo Wii competitions. The culmination of the trials and tribulations will be held at Simmons Park on Sunday, April 27 and promises to be a fun day out for all the family. From noon onwards there will be a barbecue, face painting and raffle taking place at the park as well as a special 'It's a Knockout' event with inflatable fun for everyone. There are events for teams of adults and children. Each team has four members, it costs £5 to enter and registration will take place on the day. The grand finale will see the teams from the two pubs compete in a giant tug of war at 5pm. There will be refreshments available throughout the day and all proceeds from the challenge will go to Okehampton Primary School. Raffle tickets are currently available from the pubs and all donations will be greatly appreciated.
