VOTERS in Tavistock North ward go to the polls today (Thursday) to fill a vacant seat on West Devon Borough Council.

There are six candidates: Adam Bridgewater, Liberal Democrat; Moira Brown, Labour; Jeff Moody, Independent; Andrew Mudge, UK Independence Party; Colin Rogers, Conservative; Daniel Worth, Independent.

The vacancy was caused by the resignation of Conservative Darren Lake.

The polling station at Tavistock Methodist Church will be open from 7am to 10pm.

The current make-up of the council is: Conservatives 18 seats, Independents 9, Liberal Democrats 3, one vacancy.
