TAVISTOCK shoppers are being asked to wear a daffodil this March in support of Marie Curie Cancer Care.
Collectors, including local fundraising co-ordinator Phoebe Brown, will be out and about on March 13 throughout the centre of Tavistock and at Safeway superstore.
Community fundraising manager Donna Statham said: 'The people of Tavistock have always been very generous to Marie Curie Cancer Care. They see the wonderful work of our nurses through links with the local hospital and community nursing and want to help. We can't thank them enough for their support.'
Donna urged everyone to wear a daffodil and fundraise during March.
She said: 'Every donation received in return for a daffodil will help pay for more hours of nursing care from Marie Curie nurses, whose invaluable work enables cancer patients to spend their last days in comfort and the familiar surroundings of their own homes.
'The daffodil is such a bright and pretty spring flower, it is a symbol of hope for cancer sufferers and their families everywhere.'
Daffodils will be on sale at thousands of local stores throughout March and various events are also planned.
