FIREFIGHTERS were called to extinguish a fire at a public house on Fore Street in North Tawton, last Friday. One appliance from North Tawton and one from Okehampton attended the scene at 10.15am, after a report that a beam inside the property was alight. The fire in a wooden beam in the bar area of the pub was extinguished using one hose reel and some small tools. The following day, two fire engines were called after reports of an overturned car on the A30 at Merrymeet last Saturday. One crew from Chagford and Exeter attended the scene just before 4pm. The fire crews made the vehicle and area safe, and left the incident in the hands of the police. l Firefighters were called to the A30 at Sourton Cross last Sunday, after a car overturned. One crew from Okehampton and Launceston attended the scene just before 1.30am. One car was overturned but no-one was trapped or injured. Firefighters used small tools to make the car safe. Police and ambulance crews also attended.
