IT was a busy week for Kelly College U15s. On Tuesday, four of the side, P Smith, J Elliott, A Sivyer and T Rickard, represented the 1st XI against the MCC. On Wednesday, the team played Liskeard in a 25- over game. Kelly batted first, scoring 115 in the alloted 25 overs. A Sivyer continued his recent good form with 34 not out, B Turner also batted well for his 22. In reply, Liskeard fell 10 runs short finishing on 105, S Straughan took 4 for 4 including a hat-trick. On Saturday the team entertained Shebbear in a 30-over match. Shebbear batted first, scoring 148 for 8. The Kelly bowlers bowled well, especially B Turner, 2-26 and P Smith, 4 -0. Kelly's openers J Elliott and A Sivyer got off to a good start, getting 50 before the loss of the first wicket. Elliott and Turner continued to dominate the bowlers, putting on 60 before Elliott was out for 49 and Turner for 31. The Shebbear bowlers, sensing victory, tightened their line and length, making it difficult for the Kelly batsmen to score runs, but C Driver with some lusty blows saw his team home, scoring 23 with two balls to spare.
