TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club completed a week which involved seven matches, winning four and losing three. The mixed team?s only match was a six rink ?triples? away game against Bradworthy, ending in a 112-83 victory for the home side after they won four of the six rinks played. Tavistock winning skips were Der Saunders (17-15) and Colin Tremaine (22-12). Losing skips were Norman Paramor (8-28), Ernie Piper (18-19), John Smith (10-17) and Vic Stacey (8-21). During the rest of the week the men?s section played two matches and the ladies? section four. Thursday saw a four rink men?s team away to Mount Gould in the Buckland Cup Competition, returning home having won the contest 80-77 by winning two of the four rinks played. Skip Clive Jago led his crew of Barry Chappell, Ernie Piper and Geoff Cork to a 24-18 victory and skip Malcolm Bloomer and his team of John Smith, David Perry and George Blackburn won 25-18. Skips Norman Paramor (18-23) and Mike Allen (13-18) both lost. Saturday saw a five rink squad of Tavistock men play a Plymouth Sir Francis Drake Club team on their Plymouth green in a triples match which the home side won, 95-66, after winning three of the five rinks. Tavistock skips? results were: Mike Allen won (22-13), Vic Stacey drew (13-13), Norman Paramor lost (10-20), Walter Meek lost (16-17) and Ernie Piper went down (5-30). The ladies? section completed four matches during the week, winning three and losing one. Monday?s home game against Yealmpton ended as a 57-26 victory for the Tavistock ladies after skip Yvonne Meneer and team won 26-1, and skip Sue Silcox led her crew to a 31-16 victory. Tuesday saw the ladies taste defeat in the inter-club competition when losing on both rinks played. Thursday?s home game against City Bus ended as a 41-34 win for Tavistock after they won both rinks played, and Friday?s home game against Yelverton Ladies ended as a 52-22 win for the Tavistock squad after skip Sue Silcox led her squad to a 28-15 victory and skip, Hazel Lovell?s team won 24-7.
