THE TAVISTOCK branch of Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team were called to assist an ambulance crew last weekend, after a walker had fallen into a leat and suffered a suspected fractured ankle on Sunday morning.

The incident happened at Devonport Leat near Tor Royal, Princetown and weather conditions were too bad for the Devon Air Ambulance to deploy. The team evacuated the injured lady by stretcher to a waiting ambulance.

On Friday (August 2) the team were called to assist a walker who had become entangled in undergrowth whilst walking between Daveytown and Princetown, and on July 31 into August 20 members of the team joined police and the Ashburton search and rescue team in a search for a missing elderly lady on the outskirts of Exeter.
