FUNDRAISING to improve play facilities in Tavistock Meadows is hotting up, with the Meadows Makeover team back in action this summer. Several events have been planned for the summer months and the team is looking for local people and businesses to get involved and support where they can. The team took part in the Lions' Club Funday in the Meadows recently, supporting the Lions with singing games, dancing and a baby/toddler area, and the team took part in the town carnival with a walking float. Keri Pierce from the Meadows Makeover team, said: 'The Makeover team joined in the carnival with a walking float. 'Our entry came first in our category and the men in tutus holding our banner certainly drew some laughs from the crowd!' The next Meadows Makeover event will be a 'massive' fun day in Bedford Square and the town hall on Bank Holiday Monday, August 25. 'The event will be opened at 11am by our very own Elsa and Anna from Frozen, who will sing on stage and then be available for photographs with children in our snowy cave in the town hall,' said Keri. During the fun day there will be all-day bands, stalls, face painting, circus skills, giant raffle, bouncy castle and new for this year will be a beer tent provided by the Lions. The event will run from 11am to 7pm and organisers hope it will be bigger and better than last year. The team has also organised a family pool party on Saturday, September 13 from 4pm to 5pm. Adults and children will pay a small amount to join in the pool disco provided by team member Mia Alaoui, with indoor Wet 'n' Wild too. This will be followed by a bring-your-own picnic in the park — weather permitting. Tickets for the pool party are available at Meadowlands. Anyone who is able to donate any raffle prizes or can offer to help on a stall on the Bank Holiday fun day, can contact Keri on [email protected]">[email protected] or Mia Alaoui on 07818 440771. The team needs all the help it can get with a very small but dedicated group of volunteers who are working to bring these events in support of the Meadows play area.
