OKEHAMPTON Excelsior Silver Band enjoyed a very busy December, playing 11 times in 17 days!

They would like to thank everyone for their support in coming to listen to them, and making generous donations.

All money raised will go towards paying for new waterproof coats, which are essential kit for the band when they turn out in the town in all weathers.

The band have now started rehearsals for the area qualifying contest for the national brass band finals in March. They are also preparing a new programme of music ready for their spring concerts.

‘This is a good time of the year to book the band for your event,’ said band secretary Julie Hood. ‘As always, the band welcomes players old and new to come and have a blow.’
