A WEST Devon theatre company has a host of activities planned to keep people entertained in the next few months.

While several members of the Tavonians Theatre Company are busy rehearsing for their November production, a few other events have been arranged between October and Christmas, starting with a play reading of Noël Coward's This Happy Breed, on Tuesday October 4.

The play shows how 'ordinary people', the so-called lower-middle classes, lived between the wars.

Just after world war one the Gibbons family moves to a nice house in the suburbs. There are some births and deaths, a bit of scandal and unconditional love.

It includes some serious moralising as well as many really good laughs.

The reading will start at 7.30pm and will be in Whitchurch. Address details are available by email from [email protected]">[email protected] or by phone on 08455 196592.

The following week, Tuesday, October 11, there will be a workshop in preparation for the Tavonians' spring production, A Caper through Shakespeare.

The workshop will look at various ways of working with Shakespeare.

This will be followed on Tuesday, November 1, by a casting meeting for the production. Both these events will be at 7.30pm in the Guide Hall.

Later on in the year, there will be preparations for a murder mystery performance, planned for February.

The Tavonians' late autumn production is Alan Ayckbourn's comedy Absurd Person Singular which will be performed at the Wharf from November 15 to 18.
