TOP business speakers will share their predictions on the way the future of the UK economy will shape up in a special meeting to be hosted by West Devon Borough Council at its Kilworthy House headquarters — open to the area's businesses.
Bank of England, deputy agent for the South West, Geoff Harding, will provide an outlook for the UK Economy and Ian Courtney, specialised relationship manager, Nat West Bank will provide an outlook for the local economy at a special meeting planned by the borough council.
Lisa Buckle, head of finance and audit, will present the council's spending proposals, and Marion Playle, head of planning, economy and community, will provide an opportunity for business to share their concerns and issues, so the council can better understand the needs of local businesses.
Lisa Buckle said: 'This meeting is an opportunity for businesses to consult with the Council on its proposed spending proposals and to listen to some well informed speakers on the outlook for both the UK and local economy.'
Richard Sheard, West Devon and South Hams chief executive, said: 'We have been talking with businesses about the best way to keep you up to date on key business issues in the area.
'We want to develop a forum for you to have a voice to influence not only West Devon Borough Council, but Devon County Council and the Heart of the South West Local Enterprise Partnership as well.
'We have launched a Business Voice e-newsletter which should be another great help in allowing you to give us your views.
'We would be keen to receive any feedback and in particular any comments on how we might improve this to give you a greater voice.'
The meeting is planned for Monday January 9 at the West Devon Council offices at 6.30pm. Coffees and refreshments from 6pm.
The council welcomes any businesses that would like to attend. Please contact Carol Trant 01803 861267 or email carol.trant@southhams.
