PATIENTS and visitors to Okehampton Community Hospital are being encouraged to plan their journey via public transport. The news comes as DevonBus unveil plans to put the hospital?s bus stop in their new spring timetable. The service, which drops passengers from School Way in Okehampton to the hospital?s purpose-built stop, has been running six days a week since January 5. But health bosses say they expect more people to use the service after the stop is included in the latest timetable, published in May. The Devon County Council-supported service is run by West Devon bus company Carmel Coaches. Hospital locality manager, Val Mansfield, welcomed the news. ?I?m pleased patients and visitors can get public transport to the hospital if they wish,? she said. ?I hope as many people as possible will take advantage of it.? Service 179 leaves the stop in School Way outside Waitrose in the town centre at 1140am, arriving at the hospital a few minutes later. The return bus leaves the hospital at 1.15pm.
