BAT's Badminton Club have started the new season in buoyant mood. Both teams took on local opposition in the first matches of the season and, though neither team won, a lot of positives were taken from both matches.
In Division 2 BAT's A team took on Callington B team. BAT's started off well in the ladies doubles rubbers with Abi Maunder leading by example and taking both the first rubbers. Unfortunately the men's doubles and the mixed doubles rubbers did not go the way of the BAT's team and they ended up on the wrong end of a 7 – 2 defeat.
In Division 3 BAT's B team took on Tavistock. Mike Ward led the way by taking his two men's doubles rubbers but the experience of the Tavistock ladies proved too much for the BAT's ladies in the ladies doubles rubbers. With one regular member of the team unavailable BAT's were forced into changes for the mixed doubles rubbers. Megan Harmsworth, playing in her first ever league match, managed to keep her head and serve consistently against the experienced Tavistock pair to set up a close win 22 – 20, 22 – 20 and make the overall result 6 – 3 to Tavistock.
