THERE'S an opportunity to win a prize, grab a bargain and raise a bumper bundle of cash for a good cause at a grand charity day being held in Lewdown next month.

Kay Roberts, who was awarded an MBE for her charity efforts in the past, is organising the event, on April 2 at Lewdown Victory Hall, with fellow Stowford parish councillor Eileen Warren.

Kay said: 'We are having a bumper jumble sale, which will start at about 2.15pm. That will go on until about 4pm, when we will have a room draw, and then the grand draw and finish up with an auction.'

The first prize in the draw is a flat screen TV worth £1,000 and there are lots of other items on offer.

The last charity event Kay organised raised almost £2,500 towards a scanner at Bristol Hospital — the proceeds from this event, which she hopes will be every bit as successful, will be given to Help for Heroes.

Kay said: 'We want to make as big a success of it as we can, so if anyone has donations for the jumble sale or the draw, we would love to hear from them.'
