A PHENOMENAL amount of money has been raised for the NSPCC by pupils and teachers from Tavistock Primary and Nursery School.

Within a week, an incredible total of £2,145.41 was collected after the whole school was involved in a sponsored 'Buddy workout'.

Buddy is the mascot of the NSPCC and as part of 'Buddy's Big Workout Challenge', aimed at youngsters having fun, getting fit and raising money to help more children, the pupils were educated on the work of the NSPCC and taught the Childline number.

Headteacher Lynnette Selbie said: 'We raised a phenomenal amount.

'We completed a sponsored workout which included star jumps, jumping jacks and throwing and catching and we learnt about the work of NSPCC.

'Everyone took part, with or without sponsors — there was even a couple of children who raised more than £100.'

The children are now proudly wearing the badges they received for their participation in the event.
