FOLLOWING the successful 'Dribble to Wembley' in Tavistock's Bedford Square last month, another milestone has been passed in the creation of the new mini-football pitches and sports hall at Crowndale.

The committee of Tavistock Community Football Club has closed the lists of donors of bricks and trees — 79 engraved and named bricks and all 21 trees have been donated to enhance the project.

The trees were planted this spring thanks to the help of Tavistock Town Council and have all taken well. The bricks will now be erected alongside the sports hall — £1,580 has been given for the bricks and £600 for the trees, fully covering their purchase price.

Sue Hammond, chair of TCFC said: 'We on the committee really are enormously grateful for this support from the Tavistock community.

'We want to express our warmest thanks to our most generous patrons. They have made an important contribution to the Crowndale's appearance and environment.

'Football is more than ever of interest to our young people and we are absolutely right to give it every possible encouragement.

'We shall be inviting all donors to the grand opening of the new Crowndale this autumn, early in the coming football season. We are confident that our backers will approve the arrangements we have made.'
