MULTI-TALENTED Tavistock athlete Jo Kelsey was given a boost towards her Olympic dreams last week.
Bradford and Bingley, where Jo works part-time as a cleaner, gave her £200 towards a special wetsuit.
Jo, 23, is an accomplished duathlete. She qualified for the British team at the national championships in Swindon recently where she won her age group and came fourth overall. Currently, she is training for the world championships in Calais in October.
But she is also keen to improve her swimming and take up triathlon.
Triathlon involves swimming, as well as the running and cycling of duathlon. It is mostly done in cold open water, hence the need for a lightweight very flexible suit.
'I'm really good at running, but not so good at swimming — I'm really concentrating on my swimming,' she said. 'Triathlons are my goal because that's an Olympic sport. Ideally I'd like to get into the Athens games in 2004. I don't know if that's feasible, because I've only just started really.'
Jo trains twice a day and has only one weekend off each month. She gets up at 5.30 every morning to swim, and cycles and runs four times a week.
'I don't do anything else,' she joked.
