Budleigh Salterton 4
Okehampton Argyle 0
ALTHOUGH Okehampton were missing three key players, this was still a disappointing result against a side still looking for their first league victory.
Argyle created the better chances in the first half. Two free kicks from Stuart Cann were just over the bar, and an excellent break down the right by Paul Yip finished with his shot just going inches wide of the upright.
Stand-in keeper, Steve Pengelly, dealt confidently with the odd Budleigh attack, but with only seconds to go to half-time he bravely flung himself at the feet of centre forward Davies to block a certain goal.
Budleigh looked the more determined team at the start of the second half. Pengelly was again called upon to make a couple of good saves to keep the scores level.
But just seven minutes into the half Budleigh again broke down the right and this time Kemsley's cross was side-footed into the net by Greg Davis.
Ten minutes later, Budleigh went two up from a similar move down the left flank. This time substitute Ben Shepard made the final touches.
Further goals from Phil Thomas and Dave Cokayne in the last 15 minutes rubbed salt into the wounds of a dejected Argyle.
A much better display will be required this week when Argyle are at home to Topsham Town in the second round of the Westinsure Devon Premier Cup, kick off 2.30pm.
