Millbrook 5

THE Lambs' early season promise deserted them at Langsford Park with this second consecutive defeat. Their cause was not helped with a second minute injury to Steve Brownlow in a clash with Millbrook's keeper Jason Chapman that resulted in a double fracture of the left leg. There was a 20-minute delay for the ambulance to arrive and take him to Derriford.

On came Mark Wall for Brownlow and the Lambs had an equal share of play with Dave Hallett chipping a shot onto the top netting after five minutes and Craig Hodge striking wide after Simon Parnell had set him up.

With five minutes of the first period left the visitors showed their intent as Ryan Fice saw his shot brilliantly tipped over the bar by Andy Meeds.

The pressure told moments later as Ryan Honey latched onto a through ball to shoot across Meeds to open the scoring.

Cann was fortunate to get away with a lecture by the referee when the second half started before the Lambs found themselves further behind with just five minutes played. Nathan Blamey's foul in the area resulted in a penalty and the defender's dismissal added to the Lambs' woes as Paul Edwards made it 2-0 from the spot.

Cann was not having the best of days and was again fortunate to receive just a caution for retaliation before he was replaced by Paul Smith on the hour.

The game slipped away from the Lambs' grasp in a five-minute spell midway through the half. From a quick breakaway John Morris glanced home a header and Honey got his second when he curled a shot inside Meed's post.

With 15 minutes left the visitors got their fifth as Honey got his hat-trick. The Lambs' day was complete as they could not conjure up a couple of consolation goals - Smith's spot kick was saved by Chapman and Hodge saw his header come back off the upright.
