BERE Alston Brownies recently enjoyed a visit to Collytown Shetland Stud as part of their friends to animals badge.

Collytown Shetland Stud is based at Bere Alston and is home to almost 100 Shetland ponies. Bred for their quiet and gentle nature, these ponies are successfully shown at the highest level both in hand and under saddle and are exported worldwide.

Pictured being groomed by some of the Brownies is Collytown Malachi a special little pony destined for a very important career. 

Malachi along with three other ponies are a team of 'miniature therapy ponies' a new and exciting venture at the stud, through their interaction with people these little ponies can bring a positive impact on so many lives.

The brownies really enjoyed meeting the ponies and learning about the important work they do.
