TAVISTOCK Golf Club ladies will remember spring this year which brought plenty of sunshine and fewer cancelled games than usual.
In the sunshine, at Manor House Golf Club, Moretonhampstead, on April 3, Nicky Gawman won first prize and two trophies in the bronze division of the county medal final with a nett par for the course (70).
Despite windy conditions on Sunday March 15 Tavistock Golf Club ladies beat the Dawlish Warren 4 games to 0 in this second round of the Mail on Sunday matchplay competition ? Victoria Coe 5/4, Kerry Gawman 6/4, Nicky Gawman 9/7, Bev Ruth 6/5.
What felt rather like Tunisian sunshine graced the ladies in the Tunisian salver qualifying round on March 25.
This greensome stableford was won by Elaine Cooper and Sharon Williams (39 pts c/b); runners up Grace Tucker and Judy Harris lost on countback.
The Doris Willes Little foursomes knockout competition was won by Victoria Coe and Bev Ruth and they will go on to play Teign Valley GC at Wrangaton.
The Winter Matchplay knockout final went to the 19th when Belinda McSherry beat Kerry Gawman.
The ladies battled through high winds and heavy rain in the Coronation foursomes medal.
Their perseverance was rewarded by a win for Shirley Trevena and Jenny Bryant (nett 76) with the runners-up by one point Rosemary Cook and Penny Deakin.
