DOCTORS? surgeries across Mid Devon are to close one afternoon later this month for staff training. Mid Devon PCT say the measure will enable GPs, nurses and other staff to keep up to date with the latest information about patient care and health procedures. The county?s out-of-hours GP service will provide cover for the practices during the closure which is planned for Wednesday, October 19 between 1pm and 7pm. Delia Gilbert, clinical governance manager, said: ?Protected learning days help all NHS staff to keep up to date with the very latest developments in medicine and healthcare. ?Once again we have chosen an afternoon for the closure which would normally be quieter, and are confident that the on-call arrangements will ensure as little disruption to patients as possible.? A date in February has also been set aside for additional staff training.
