IN the Devon Girls Championship Stableford held at Churston Golf Club, 15 year-old Bridie Sampson from Tavistock Golf Club, came top of the bronze division with an excellent score of 40 pts.

Bridie, who started playing golf when she was 12, also won the Captain's prize. This a great achievement and one of which she and the club are very proud.

The club's juniors also won their qualifying round in the Tamar Cup, when they  played in pouring rain at Bowood Park to beat Bude by 2 and 1.  They were not so lucky in their match in the WDJGL when they lost to Thurleston 3 and 2. However, Emma Greening, playing in her first league match and partnering Calum McCormick in the foursomes, rolled in a 20 ft putt on the 18th to win their match.

The men also had a good win in their qualifying round of the Palairat beating Downes Crediton 3 and 2 at Bovey Castle.  The next round will be against Wrangaton,  date and venue to be announced.
