TAVISTOCK Rotary Club this week issued an appeal to residents to donate unwanted books or bric-a-brac to the club, to help its annual charity stall at Goose Fair.
Money raised at the October fair will be contributed to the charitable causes the club has chosen to support this year.
Martyn Dudden, the Rotarian in charge of fundraising this year, said: ?The club is proud of its record of supporting local causes.
?During our previous year, we were able to contribute to the Stannary Brass Band, the Bishopsmead play park project, the new Whitchurch Village Hall, as well as a very worthwhile contribution to Youthwize from money raised at the club?s recent golf day, and were able to organise the very popular dinner for senior citizens in June.
?Due to this, club funds are now at a low level and we are planning extra fundraising ideas for other local events ? the first is a hotdog stall at the forthcoming Balloon Fiesta, to be operated jointly with the town?s Inner Wheel Club.?
Anyone who has unwanted books or saleable items, other than electrical ones, should call Fiona on 01822 617000 to arrange a suitable collection time.
