BRIAN Bounsell, of Tavistock Golf Club, has become president of the Devon County Golf Union at its annual council meeting at Exeter Golf and Country Club. Brian, who has served continuously on the executive committee of the union since 1987, was delighted and honoured to become president, not only for himself, but also for his club. He also mentioned that it was unique it was to have the president and captain (Will Reed) from the same club at the same time. Brian thanked John Spencer (Exeter), the outgoing president, for all his hard work and diligence over the past two years and wished him a peaceful ?retirement?. Brian then presented the badge of office for the vice president to Alf Palmer. Alf is a long-standing member of the county executive committee and is a past president and captain of Staddon Heights Golf Club. Brian and Alf go back a long way to sharing their schooldays in Plymouth, and so it was with great pleasure he made the presentation to a friend and colleague of many years? standing Brian looks forward to enjoying his presidency and will endeavour to visit the county?s golf clubs whenever possible during his term of office.
