A PARISH newsletter will be celebrating 30 years of publication with a special souvenir edition — with a bit of help from West Devon Borough Council.
The Brentor News has been at the centre of village life for the past three decades, giving residents a unique view on the comings and goings in and around the village.
The community newsletter is delivered free of charge to every household in the parish. It has never missed an issue and has many regular contributors, including the parish council, cricket club, community trust, local church, village hall and playing field committee.
The newsletter also carries local service information such as bus timetables, community news and adverts from local businesses.
The souvenir edition will be a one-off copy, charting 30 years of village life, showing not only the evolution of the magazine but also the changes that have occurred in the parish.
Rick Blower, trustee of the Brentor Community Trust, said: 'The Brentor News is distributed to over 220 households in the parish free of charge. The 360th issue marks 30 years of the continuous production and circulation of the newsletter: a remarkable achievement when you take into account that the Brentor News is produced and distributed entirely by volunteers.'
To help with the production costs West Devon Borough Council has awarded a community grant of more than £200 to the Brentor Community Trust. This sum will cover one third of the production and distribution costs of the magazine.
