HIGHAMPTON boxer Julian Bray has recently competed twice for Bideford ABC.

At Barnstaple's Royal British Legion, southpaw Bray fought Barnstaple's Brian Birchfield in a tough all-action middleweight contest. Bray came out the winner, the highlight being a 35-punch unaswered combination in the second round which Birchmore bravely survived after taking a standing count.

Then at Bideford's pannier market it was rematch time, The ever improving Birchfield never gave in, but again Bray's power and speed was enough to give him the contest on all three of the judges' cards.
