THIS articulated lorry was hit by a falling tree branch in Grenofen recently, causing substantial damage to the vehicle.

The lorry was returning from a delivery in Plymouth when it was struck by the branch just beyond the junction from the Plymouth to Horrabridge road.

The branch crushed the aerodynamic, fibreglass awning above the cab, pinning the vehicle to the spot until police and the Highways Agency arrived at the scene.

The driver believed he'd experienced a 'lucky escape' and was 'glad it didn't hit a smaller vehicle'.

The road was closed for around two hours.
