DOGS of all shapes and sizes took part in the Gulworthy Fete and Dog Show held at Hele Farm recently.
Lots of hard work went into the preparation of the event and the weather did not deter locals and holiday makers who had an enjoyable afternoon.
The dog show was organised by Pat Kelly, Mary Ann Furze and Judith Blowey and was sponsored by Castle Veterinary Group. It was judged by partner Mark Tucker.
The participating dogs were placed in order in the ten classes and the dog gaining the most overall points was Bramble, an 18-month old brindle lurcher bitch owned by Lindsay Miller.
Lindsay, from Bere Alston, works Bramble when she is not involved with her other passion of horses.
The Child Handler award went to Ellie and her dog Maddie. A raider from across the English Channel, Angel, was a close second.
Live music for the afternoon was provided by Barry Hodge, and Gulworthy WI ran a cake stall.
Other stalls included a barbecue, bric-a-brac, books, garden produce and Gulworthy Playgroup. Many other attractions included the pet show, skittles and pony rides and archery run by the Toad Hollow Archery Group.
Organisers expressed thanks to Jenny Hoyle for organising the draw and John Credicott for giving his time and PA system.
The event raised £2,170 for the repair funds of Gulworthy Church and parish hall.
