MEMBERS of the Tavistock Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club have raised an impressive £350 for a new treatment unit for prostate cancer at Derriford Hospital.
Ladies' captain Gill Saunders chose BBC Radio Devon's Chestnut Appeal as her charity for the 2003 season.
The money was raised through raffles at the ladies' matches and an end-of-season table top sale.
A further £35 came from the 'Monday night roll-up club', organised by competition secretary Ernie Piper.
Gill was delighted with the sum raised. She said: 'I'd like to thank everyone who helped us support this worthy cause, especially Ernie Piper for his donation from his club nights.'
