TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club began their week of six matches at Looe Bowling Club for a six rink mixed match. The home team won the confrontation (108-101) after the Tavistock players managed to win only two of the six rinks played. Tavistock skips? results were: Hazel Lovell (19-12), Vic Stacey (24-9), Ernie Piper (16-23), Norman Paramor (10-24), Malcolm Bloomer (16-16), and Mike Allen (16-23). Wednesday evening saw the men?s County Trophy team travel to face Devonport Park in Plymouth and return home having won 81-78 thanks to good wins on two of the four rinks played. Tavistock skips results were: Mike Allen (29-11), Clive Jago (25-14), Norman Paramor (17-24) and Malcolm Bloomer (10-29). The ladies? sections? home game against Buckfastleigh on Thursday ended in a 33-39 defeat for the Tavistock players after skip Sue Silcox lost (15-16) and skip Marion Allen and her crew went down (18-23). Thursday also saw the visit by a four rink men?s squad from Bere Alston for an evening Buckland Cup match which the visitors won (87-55) after winning three of the four rinks played. Tavistock skips? results were: Mike Allen (13-13), Clive Jago (16-21), Norman Paramor (8-30) and Malcolm Bloomer (18-23). A coachload of Tavistock players and supporters travelled to Teignmouth on Saturday for a six rink mixed match on a bowling green situated alongside the seafront promenade. The Tavistock players returned home having won the game (116-93) thanks to them winning on three rinks and drawing on two. Tavistock skips? results were: Norman Paramor (18-13), Sue Silcox (26-12), Vic Stacey (22-12), Ernie Piper (19-19), Walter Meek (16-16), Hazel Lovell (15-21). Liskeard Bowling Club members travelled to Tavistock to play a mixed match on Sunday, only to have tea in the club house overlooking a flooded bowling green following a sudden deluge of heavy rain.
