TAVISTOCK Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club?s first game of the week was on Tuesday when they travelled to Liskeard for a five rink, mixed triples match. The club won on three of the rinks but lost the match (93-95). Skip Colin Tremaine and crew won 17-15 and skip Barry Chappell led his squad to a 23-19 victory thanks to them scoring seven winning shots on the 20th end of their game. Skip Vic Stacey and his team won 27-13, whilst skips Ernie Piper (10-29) and Norman Paramor (16-19) both tasted defeat. Tuesday also saw a two rink ladies? squad travel to face Kingsbridge Ladies for a league match which ended as a 22-57 victory for the home team after they won both rinks. Skip Marion Allen and her squad went down 12-25 and skip Yvonne Meneer and her crew came up against a crew in top form and returned home having lost (10-32). Wednesday saw a visit by the Cotswold Tourers, for a six rink game which ended in a victory for the Tavistock hosts after each team won three of the rinks. Tavistock skips results were: Colin Tremaine won (18-12), Der Saunders won (23-20), Ernie Piper won (23-13), Mike Allen lost (19-20), Vic Stacey lost (15-17) and Malcom Bloomer lost (18-21). Friday saw a mixed team of Tavistock players travel to face their namesakes, Plymouth Sir Francis Drake Bowling Club, for a five rink match which ended in a 86-72 for the home team after they won three of the five rinks. Tavistock Skip Mike Allen and his team of George Blackburn and Catriona Meek, won 17-13, whilst skip Barry Chappell led his crew of Walter Meek and Albert Townsend to a 14-11 victory. Losing skips were: Norman Paramor (11-20), Ernie Piper (14-19) and Vic Stacey (16-23).
