MOUNT House 1st XV lost its unbeaten record soon after half term when they lost (7-17) to an excellent XV from The Downs School in Bristol. However, they bounced back quickly to record two victories in the last week.
The midweek fixture with St. Michael?s, Tawstock from Barnstaple was a one sided affair. Tries in the 56-0 win were scored by Sam Goldstone 2, Jack Morgan 2, Rory Oxenham 2, Oliver Essex, George Day-Robinson and Ed O?Neill. Four conversions and a well taken drop goal were added by Harry Cousens.
The following Saturday, Mount House travelled to Hazlegrove School in Somerset. By dominating the lineout and competing well in the rucks, the forwards played a vital role in this narrow but well deserved 10-0 win over a competent, if unexciting Hazlegrove XV.
Two tries by scrum half Bruce Fulton settled the game.
The long journey was made doubly worthwhile when the 2nd XV defeated their opposite numbers, coming from behind to win 17-12. Tries were scored by Jack Kelleher 2 and Edward Day-Robinson, while Tom Rickard added the conversion.
