HORRABRIDGE Cavaliers will be out and about in the village over the next two weeks, collecting bottles for their annual bottle auction.

This year the auction will be held in the Leaping Salmon on Friday, December 16, starting at 7.30pm.

The bottle auction is the Cavaliers' main annual fund-raising event, and this will be the eighth time it has been held. Last year's auction raised a record £1,250, and the organisers are optimistic that this figure will be beaten this year.

Cavaliers' vice-chairman and bottle auction organiser Rob Hitchcock said: 'The residents of Horrabridge have been increasingly generous in donating bottles over the years, and we are hopeful that they will be again this year.

'We accept any bottle provided the seal hasn't been broken – spirits, wine, beer or soft drinks.'

The seven annual Cavaliers' bottle auctions held so far have raised more than £5,000 in total. All the money collected goes to support good causes, mostly in the village itself.

Rob added: 'We are hoping for a good crowd again this year in the Leaping Salmon — it will be an entertaining evening, and a it's great way to do some Christmas Shopping.'
