WEST?Devon Borough Council showed its support for the men and women of the Armed Forces, past, present and future, by flying a special flag in the run up to Armed Forces Day.

The official Armed Forces Day flag was hoist above the council's headquarters at Kilworthy Park, Tavistock on Monday, June 24.

It remained aloft all week in the run up to Armed Forces Day last Saturday.

West Devon mayor Cllr William Cann said: 'We are proud to support Armed Forces Day by flying the flag. We hope it will help to raise public awareness of the contribution made by those who serve and have served in the Armed Forces. It is also a way of showing our thanks and support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community from veterans to cadets.'

Councils across the UK also showed their support by flying the flag last week and many communities held special events and services.
