WEST Devon Borough Council has beaten a national deadline by launching a new website full of information on all you need to know about the borough.
The new site will operate in addition to traditional contact methods and will allow easier access to the council information and services for members of the public.
Council services, including benefits, council tax, environmental health and planning, are all featured, as well as council agendas, a wide range of borough facts and figures, links to related sites, and a diary of events.
Members of the public will still be able to get information about the council and contact them through the traditional methods of visiting offices or by phoning, but the site means information will always be up-to-date.
Pierre Morel, the council?s ICT strategy and client manager, said: ?The website allows council officers to update information directly which makes it more responsive and flexible.
?It will give the very latest information as soon as it becomes available.?
The site complies with central Government requirements that internet access is available for all council services possible, in all local authorities, by December 2005.
Cllr Dennis Bater, who represents E-government on the council, said: ?It will progress in line with the E-government agenda and you can expect frequent updates. If the information you are looking for is not yet available, please do get in touch and we will do our best to publish it.?
