GET those trainers out and those dancing shoes on — West Devon Borough Council and Tavistock's five-star sporting facilities will play host to this year's Devon Games to Inspire on July 10, and the trials for this prestigious event, formerly known as the Devon Youth Games, will begin this month.
This is the first time the Games have been held in Tavistock and organisers are looking forward to showing off the much-improved sporting facilities of which the town is so proud.
Trials for the sports, which start on Saturday May 15, range from the more traditional, such as netball and athletics, through to the rather less traditional like street sports. New for this year is ultimate frisbee, a sport that takes this beach game that one step further.
West Devon Borough Council's sports development officer, Hannah Colston, said: 'This is a big year for West Devon as we're hosting the whole festival style event. We want as many of our young people taking part in all the sports and enjoying all the extra activities on offer this year. Lots of local organisations are helping us to ensure this will be a fantastic community event, such as Tavistock Town Council, Youth Service, The Lions and many more.'
Sign up for trials in the following sports by visiting http://www.westdevon.gov.uk/sports">www.westdevon.gov.uk/sports and downloading an entry form, or see information circulated to local schools and leisure centres for details. All abilities are welcome.

Dance showcases and taster workshops, along with music performances and displays from Andrei Burton's international bike trail team, are just some of the additional events happening on the big day —Saturday July 10.
