A YELVERTON woman has raised more than £3,500 for the NSPCC, after successfully completing the London Marathon on April 17.
Sonja Cheadle, 61, raised £3,740 for the charity by various fundraising means, including a barn dance, quiz, bag packing at Sainsburys, a Torpoint ferry collection, visit and tea at the Lord Mayor's residence, selling hand made garden kneelers and more.
Sonja dedicated herself to training for the marathon by running around Burrator every Sunday.
She also went for shorter runs with a friend four times a week. A few years ago she completed the Midnight Walk for St Luke's Hospice — a 26 mile route that helped her training and move on towards the London Marathon.
